You could ask your Acura dealer if they could disable the airbag; however, I'm pretty sure that it's a criminal offence in Canada to disable federally mandated safety equipment (don't know about the U.S.). Statistically, you would be safer without it.
In the US, an authorized repair shop/acura dealer may disable the airbag. I know this for a fact because I was inquiring about the samething.
