What is a Bottle Neck?
What and where is the bottle neck? and does it come on every exhaust (stock & aftermarket)? if they come on the aftermarket ones, how much to fix?
Bottlenecks occur when the diameter of the exhaust pipe decreases in certain areas ... this is most common before, after, and inside resonators and around flanges/joints. They are not common to every exhaust and generally the better the exhaust, the better the flow from little or no bottlenecks.

"bottlenecks" arent specifically for exhausts pipes only. just think of bottlenecks as things that interupt the smooth flow of something.
for example. modding your car with an aftermarket intake and 2.5" exhaust and a free flowing muffler on the integra. then you go ahead and add some lumpy cams. the bottle neck will be the part that interupts that flow, which would be the header.

In case it isn't quite clear from what the others have said:
A "bottleneck" is more of a concept, it's a point of restriction. Think of a bottle of beer and a mason jar of beer. Tip them both upside down, the bottle will take a while to empty while the mason jar dumps out all at once. Now you understand where the term comes from, and the restriction it implies.
Now lick the beer off the floor, realizing what an idiot you where to pour two entire beers out. :chuckles:
The term is generally used in a negitive sense, as in a "bottleneck" is a bad thing to have.
