Default Miss my Maintenance

My maint Req came on at about 39,000 miles (flashing) and stayed solid after 40,000. I am at 47,000 right now and havent gotten it serviced yet because of money problems. Was there a chance that it could have broke anything or cause reliability issues in the future? And also what would I have to get done my next service?

the purpose of that light is a reminder for you to take it to acura to get an oil change. that light comes on every ~7500 miles. you can reset it manually.

to reset it:
-turn key to ON position
-on the bottom right of the steering wheel, about where your right knee will be, there is a square button. press and hold it.
-turn on the engine
-the light will remain solid then, disapprear for another 7500 miles
-release button.

when was your last oil change? whats your milage?

I change my oil every 3000-3700 miles, and I do it myself, that light has been on for about 3 oil changes already, If you are sure its just for oil change then I will turn it off, but what about the scheduled service I missed?

BTW, they do publish a schedule of what should be done at each service interval in the owner's manual. Not to re-hash the obvious, but there's more to maintenance - on any car - than just oil changes.

And remember: Friends don't let friends use FRAM oil filters.

it is not just for oil changes. it is a light that comes on every 7500 miles since it was last reset. it is there to remind you that this time around you are supposed to have the car serviced (such as a 7500 mile service, 15k, 22.5k, 30k...and so on).

if you only change the oil every 7500 miles, your engine hates you. that is unless you drive the car at least 20 miles, at 65 mph, with no stops, over no hills, and 70 degrees outside...everytime you start the car.

You can drive normally and easily get 7500 miles on conventional oil. I've seen UOA's of cars going 7500+ miles on dino oils and they were fine. Don't believe the 3000k OCI hype.
