one solution would be to take the whole damned thing out, and drill out the bolt, or get a bigger hex on it. they have the sharp indents, take a larger stanley screwdriver, angle it in the indents and hammer it a few times, that should jog it loose.

Drilling out the bolt has been a solution advocated on other boards, and it works fine, it's just a hassle.

I'm not sure what other paths there are if you stripped the bolt though...

I remember discussing w/ old skool domestic friends, and they've used different kits (I need to find out) but most of them consist of take a sharp phillips like screw driver...hammering into the nut and the twisting it out. However the catch is based on the material of the stripped screw/bolt. I'll try to find out more (late and I've got work tomorrow).

maby try an impact wrench. and im pretty sure anytype of greese will stay on there through a car wash as long as you smear it on there pretty well and dont leave it in clumps because clumps are bigger and catch more water and will fall off

Coca-cola isn't an anti-rust compound. It's a rust remover because it has a pH of 3 from all the citric acid in it.

Heat up the screw with a propane torch and spray some penetrating oil on it. Repeat it a couple of times. The heat and added to penetrating oil will boil the oil in the threads hopefully allowing it to penetrate deeper.

Buy yourself some stainless screw and anti-seize compound and go to town after you get those babies out.
