Help...stange noise
There is this stange noise coming from my timing belt / power steering pump area. I know my pump must be going bad or maybe my hose since there is a leak. But the noise seems to get worse every day and i am worried that it is my timing belt rubbing on the side of the covers.
Can anyone tell me what the characteristics of a rubbing timing belt would be? I hope im just being paranoid and its just the p/s pump going bad.
Its like a whining sound that I cant pinpoint where its coming from, but its in that area and i have my ear very close lol.
What does a bad p/s pump sound like??
So anyone offer some help?

I guess a loose belt would make a slapping noise if it's hitting the inside of the covers. If the cover is warped or something like that, it'll be a scraping/sliding noise?
The timing cover doesn't have a gasket. The valve cover gasket can often be put back on if it hasn't gotten hard & brittle.
Try the garden hose stethoscope trick??
