:dunno: Weight is weight. Unless you're restricted by classing to an engine that matches the car it's in, a Civic will always be faster than an Integra with the same HP #s. By about a half a second.

I may be a little biased. h:

Yeah, and I do miss my Integra from a daily driving perspective (especially with these ES motor mount inserts), but this isn't going to be his main car, just a sideline fun toy.

Just an example: http://www.c-speedracing.com/integra.php

To get into 12s without slicks you'd probably need about 240 or so to the wheel, maybe a bit more.

Generally speaking this is the way to go:

B18C1
free-flow intake
ITR intake manifold (or skunk2 copy)
ported/polished head, chambers deshrouded to 84 mm bore
cams: JUN Type-3, Toda Spec B, skunk2 Stage 2 (copy of the JUNs)
upgraded valve springs, titanium retainers
adjustable cam gears
block resleeved, bored to 84 mm
forged rods, forged pistons
CR around 11.5:1 or so
stock crank
header with 2.5" collector
2.5" hi flow cat
2.5" exhaust
some means of electronically tuning fuel and timing maps (Hondata, Zdyne, AEM EMS, etc...for a '90-'91 I'd go Zdyne, '92-'93 Hondata)

To swap the thing into the year of Integra you want, you'll need a transaxle with a cable-actuated clutch from a '92-'93 Integra GSR or a Jap-spec Integra XSi or RSi. You can use an older Jap-spec B16A transmission which will give you similar gear ratios but you have to use the smaller '90-'91 Integra clutch.

Also a couple of extra wires need to be run to the ECU to get it to control VTEC.

i think what you guys are saying about the weight makes a lot of sense. I guess I pegged on the integra because of the way it looks. i like the style better than the civic. so, i think i am on my way to a 4th gen Civic with a B18 conversion. I wanna get a good engine bone and rebuild it myself, make sure it gets done right and build it to handle some nitrous. I am hoping for about 225-250WHP on just the engine and probably a 50-100HP shot of nitrous. I think I wanna break into the 11s or at least the lower half of the 12s. I wanna make a decent name for my shop and there is no better way to prove it than on the track.

what about the tranny? will the stock integra tranny hold up to the punishment. Do I need to beef up the axles? I know I am probably looking at an LSD, but other than that will it hold in stock form?

i really appreciate the input so far and i have to say you guys are a lot more helpful than the people on the RX7 forum. Thanks.

MrFatBooty awesome info; that is almost like a recipe for speed.

LSD is all you need. Only reason to upgrade axles w/o forced induction would be for weight reasons.

With a bunch of power, an LSD, and slicks (assuming you'll be running them what with this being a drag car and all) you do stand a chance of breaking some axles. If for nothing more than piece of mind, you can get beefed up axles from driveshaftshop.com. Also if this is primarily a drag car I'd go with a clutch type LSD like a Kaaz or something. You could go with a Quaife or other sort of torque-biasing diff (the stock ITR diff for example) which would be not quite as good for launching but better from a handling standpoint.
