My teggy is giving me some problems
First problem, is my car gives me a hard time when I try to shift. First it was 2nd gear, now its all five. I thought it was the syncros at first, but now I dont know for sure.
The second problem is a slight engine tick. When I first start it usually its cool, but when it warms up, you can hear this faint tick, and since I need to sell my car to start working on a supra turbo, its a little annoying. ANy help would be appreciated.

if your tranny is hard in all 5 gears it won't be synchros. try draining the tranny fluid and puting fresh in. ticking might be valves. when was the last time you had valve adjustment done?
I had the same shifting problems that you described. I changed the transmission oil and the problem persisted. I then went to a mechanic and he told me to add a product called "equa torque" to the transmission oil. I did and within 2 weeks the shifting problem was gone and has been gone for about 3 months now.
If the hard shifting is the tranny fluid, you will notice a larger improvement using synthetic, but if you are selling, I would just use Honda fluid. Make sure you can get the fill plug off before you drain the tranny fluid. The ticking is probably valves, as the other guys say

Well I guess now is the time to get the valves adjusted and to check out why shifting is so hard. Good luck.

Hey OregonHusker, I have this problem too. This product equa torque, where do i get it? And did u change the oil yourself? If so, how much equa torque did u put in the transmission oil? Do you have to just add it to the oil already in, or do u have to mix it before u put in the new oil. Any details of this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
