i'm not sure what you can do, but why not confront him and see what he has to say about it?

If your running 4500 at 75MPH you not only have a Del Sol engine but you have a del sol transmission as well. My B17 runs that exact RPM in that gear at that speed and my transmission ratios are the same as a B16s for every gear but first, where mine is just a hair shorter. Actually be thankful for that, the GSR trans. would actually slow you down in this due to its longer ratios = slower revving.

how did you pay? CHeck, cash, credit card? use the money trail to prove how much you payed. Also hire a lawyer PRONTO.

Have you asked the seller about this yet? I swaped my car and I never got a rebuild title. But I also live in wisconsin, it never even crossed my mind to think of getting one. Were you aware that it had a b16a3 when you bought it, or were you under the impression that it was the stock motor? Never the less the first thing you need to do is confront the seller of the car. If he does not know anything about cars, then maybe he did not even know what motor it had in it. And you definately should have checked out what was under the hood before you bought the car.

The block is still stamped "B18C" but people call it B18C specR or Type-R or what have you.

BTW: Would the b18b1 sound just as good w/o VTEC?
I hope you don't use "sound" as a measure of performance.

And yes, I think it sounds just as good as any other Honda engine.

I paid cash sadly, I didnt really check the engine code because it was dark and I just saw the DOHC Vtec so I just trusted him, My first mistake. My second mistake was not looking at the Title Long enough, I just looked to see if its under his name and the VIN matches the car. My Third mistake would have to be the Bill of Sale put out to be $2,000. All said and done, do you guys think $5,500 is too much for a Integra GS-R Sedan with a b16a3?

ok how else is he gonna prove that he payed more than $2000 for it? for one its his word against the other guy. if its says salvage on the tittle, the seller could just say "i showed him the tittle and told him its salvage" and a judge will look at it(the tittle) and ask the buyer "didn't you look at this tittle carefully?" and even if he wins the case he gets his $2000 back but he gives the car back. he just lost $3000.
now if the buyer runs into trouble smogging it or any inspections he would have to chose whether to spend more money and fix the problem or get his $2000 back, again he just lost $3000.
unless the seller is nice enough that he will give him a full refund willingly, he can kiss that $3000 good by.i would check with your local police to see if that motor is stolen, if it is then maybee you got a case against him.

$5500 is not bad for a gsr with a b16a in it even if it is salvage as long as its not a wrecked victim, make sure the chasis is straight.
you figure if you want a gsr motor in again you could sell the b16a swap for about $2500 and get yourself a gsr swap for $3500 so your looking at about a little over a grand to drop a gsr motor in that thing again.
