CRX map sensor upgrade
my friend has a 89 crx si with D16a6 engine. it doesn't have vtec, so if he wants to upgrade the map sensor... which ones does he need to get? cuz there are a lot of them on ebay and i would like to know which ones will fit and which ones won't. also, can he fit the map sensor from a civic ex with vtec?
Why does he need to upgrade his MAP sensor? If his MAP is dead, then he should just get a new/different OEM one. If he wants a MAP sensor that reads a wider range of pressure for tuning with a standalone, then he should get a GM 3BAR MAP, which looks like this:

If he's N/A, and his MAP sensor isn't malfunctioning, there's no reason to replace it. If it is malfunctioning, and he wants one that will bolt up to the stock location on the firewall, then a Civic MAP wouldn't be the best choice, since it attaches to the top of the throttle body.

actually, he is currently running NA. but he wants to change his map sensor to increase the mapping for fuel and air. he will be upgrading his fpr soon and adding this new map will help out.

Is he running a forced induction motor with more than 1 bar of boost? Because otherwise the stock MAP sensor is fine, and the stock ECU goes into a limp mode if it senses boost anyway.
I see no reason to "upgrade" the sensor.
I see no reason to "upgrade" the sensor.
