Default b18c swap into civic coupe

Hey, im currently saving for a b18c swap into my 1998 2dr civic ex.. my question is ...

once i get this swap is there gonna be like a HUGE difference? i mean big? cuz if not maybe i should save for something else..
i keep going back and forth about this and i can't see spending nearly 3500 on somthing if its not gonna be worth it. also will this be a HUGE difference with just the stock engine in? or after the swap am i gonna have to put more money out to get up to be massively noticeble.

also, with this swap with no other mods except maybe an exhaust and intake what kind of cars would i be able to beat? i know most other modded cars would be faster but give me an estiment...

thanks.. hoping your replies make me stick with it

Yes there will be a difference, but you could also spend that money on a Greddy turbo kit for your SOHC and be faster for less $.

You can use the one for the 92-95.

Yo dub, he would then not be CARB legal. I used to own a 98 Civic EX with a GSR motor and I can tell you that there is a difference. I rather enjoyed my car until I got rid of it. IMO if you plan on doing more stuff down the road to teh motor then go with a B-series. If your plans just inlcude wanting more speed and are not worried about CARB legality then the 92-95 Turbo kit will be your best bet.

why not just get a JDM B16a2...its got 170 hp...10 less than the B18c1...and much less cost...you can rev it higher...and the grand you save on the engine you can more than make up the 10hp for...and you can get an LSD for it with the engine depending on what engine place you go through...i have nothing against the B18c1 engine...but for the price..you CANT beat the b16a2 or any second gen b16a

Default What's up?

I have a '92 CX with a B18C1 and a '98 EX with the stock motor. My '92 CX pulls in 5th like my '98 EX pulls in 3rd. The CX is a lot lighter, but I would definately recommend the swap. With just an intake, exhaust and no PS or A/C and just two front seats, my car ran 14.4 at 96. Doesn't sound that impressive, but that's faster than pretty much every new import out right now (SVT focus, Type S RSX, Sentra V-spec) except the 350Z and WRX and it is a complete blast to drive. Seeya.
