cat back exhaust and cold air intake. I am working on buying intake manifold, cam gears, cams, header, and of course ecu upgrade. Maybe some day a 50 shot direct ported.

You simply don't need an ecu upgrade at this time. If you switch to a one-stage manifold or swap cams, then you'll want something new.

BTW: Cam gears without new cams is simply a waste of your money.

I've been told that hondata and all of those are simply things that you can get respect points with. You know what I'm talking about.. omg u got a greddy exhaust ur car must be fast type stuff. Stock ecu upgrades, such as crome, do just as much as those, but are a grip load cheaper.

Again that's what I was told.. no experience with it though.

Respect points? Is this NFS: Underground?

You guys seriously play too many video games.

Hondata or equivalent is absolutely necessary when boosting or have a setup that would benefit from ignition and fuel tuning. Once a VAFC becomes obsolete for your setup due to it just being a piggy back fuel controller with limited functions, a chipped ECU running Hondata, Crome, etc is necessary.

IMO, Crome with proper hardware >>> Hondata.

HONDATA,HONDATA,HONDATA,HONDATA,HONDATA: Highly Recommended on experience. Unless you have some serious boost coming and want to run different programs... ur looking at an AEM EMS or something of that nature.....

Hondata and an AEM EMS is by far the preferred setup. Chipped ECU's are garbage IMO.

I don't have any experience with Crome unfortunately (I'd sure like to have some) but Schmoo says he's had good results and it costs substantially less than Hondata and a briefcase less than AEM EMS.

With Hondata, you are pretty much paying for the convenience. Crome can do everything Hondata does but finding all the hardware to make it work can be a pain in the ass.
