hey i make friends with ppl who can give me price cuts so i dont pay much for the work so i just pay for parts and i work myself to death over the summers to afford stuff, and i dont feel like having something give on me b/c the block is so old.

and never thought this thread would be up for so long

oh and i dont know if i made this clear but this car is not being built as a drag car i intend on building this car for road racing (later on roll cage, fuel cell, full suspension, brake kit, and wieght reduction)

i dont know if you have been around much american made performance either, did you know that the longer a block(american made) sits in the weather, the stronger it gets. Just because the block is old, doesnt mean it is gonna break. if you are going with an after market motor and fuel cell and the whole works like that, you may want to look into turbo to give you something more to run with the 300hp beamers and porsches in that class. If you are not experienced in driving, you may want to start out in autoX, since that is a little more down to earth, maybe soloII or something along those lines, not a fully modded division. Anyhow, good luck with this car and if 600 bucks as you said he was gonna charge you is nothing to you, kewl.

i have been lookin into it and my style of driving seems like road racing, i am good at drifting and i use my friends s2000 sometimes (i taught him how to drift) but since i dont have a RW car i cant compete in my integra even though i can manage to drift it.
i intend on turbo charging after the ls/vtec and rebuild and hope to be making over 300hp hopefully 400hp so i should be ok

it is gonna be cheaper for all the way around to just save you money on the ls/vtec and instead, turbo the ls, im gonna have a FULL ls head for sale pretty soon, the ls head, or motor is so much cheaper to boost, its ridiculous. You need to search, it better to have a ls that is sleeved and the head is port matched at least and has adjustable cam gears with aft mrkt valvetrane. all of this would be cheaper than an ls/vtec. dont just MAKE a LS/VTEC JUST to be able to say that you have a LS/VTEC. I am missing the point for you to build a ls/vtec if you are gonna boost. show me a good reason for turboing a ls/vtec compared to a ls motor.

variable valve timing, i would like to have a nice idle with a aggressive lobe higher in the rpm range, i have driven a ls turbo and have ridden in a ls/vtec with a turbo and the difference is very noticable, i dont want a crappy idle like some car i have been in.

after boost takes over the vtec kick, you cant feel it any more. when you are pushing 16 lbs, you DONT feel vtec any longer...
