Default noob

hi, i recently registered cuz i learn a lot from this forum.
i just want to clarify the things i have to do in order to swap a b18c type r into a 92 civic hatchback, sorry, but ive done the search and i just wanna make sure and double check all the things i need to do..
a.)what are the list of things to do? cuz i dont really know the trim of my car, all i know is that it has no vtec...
b.) is it all right, that before i put the engine in, i replace the clutch, pressure plate and flywheel, and then put a vortec supercharger kit all before i put the engine in?
c.)while the engine is out, im going to swap the rear drum to a rear disk, and replace the brake booster and the master cylinder to that of a civic sir.. will this be possible?

sorry for the trouble, but im just really nervous about this cuz i love my car.. thanks...

So you dont have an Si, so its either VX, CX, or DX, 1 or 2 of these had vtec but i cant remember. I think it was the VX that had a economy vtec. im sure the DX doesnt. not sure about the CX.

Its usually best to replace anything you want to or install anything while the engine is out. So yes it is alright to do the clutch/fly/pressure plate/supercharger, while the engine is out. Its much easier to work with everything while the engine is out.

Yes its possible to replace your drums with rear disk....

i think i may have been vague with some of the explanations but if you want more info please ask or search some more.

This link should help for the rear disc conversion: http://www.hybridgarage.com/tech/brakeswap.html
Check the "online resources" sticky in the civic/del sol/el forum (it's second from the top) That has saved my @$$ more than once. GL with your swap! And Welcome to HAN!!!

i have read in a forum somewhere, i forgot where it is, but if you turbo or supercharge a high compression engine, it should only take a little amount of boost to get to a higher output. but in a lower compression engine, you should put more boost in order to get the same output of a turboed or supercharged high compression..
high compression + low boost = 300 hp
low compression + high boost = 300 hp
its just a sample, but thats what i read in some forum, what im asking from you guys
is this true?
thanks for the brake swap instructions 93turboD..
p.s. someone told me vortec makes a supercharger just for the type r, made for the b18c5 not to blow...

all things being equal, a higher compression engine will make more power at a set psi than a lower compression counterpart. but, you're tuning has to be dead on at that point.

how bout an obd1 b18c1, and then turbo or supercharge it?
would that be easier than the type r or as much work to be done?
thanks..

To begin welcome to HAN.Second only the VX had the Vtec for fuel economy.Third don't go forced induction on any of the motors GSR or Type R. You can get a strong motor just going all motor. Plus if you when races at the track only more respect. The CX is the lightest. Do you have AC, power steering or not. Also look at your vin number. You can always take your car pass any Honda Acura specialist & they'll tell you what model you have. The CX is the easiest to swap engines because of the wire harness & it's the lightest 92-95 hatches.Good luck & post some pictures when complete. One important rule on HAN no street racing allowed only at the track...
