Default Pulling tranny

Alright, block's out of the car, on a pallet, everything is looking good... and we can't get the trans off.

While we didn't have my manual handy, I'm 99.9% sure we got all the bolts off, including the rear motor mount bracket. There was much pulling & tapping & kicking and the like, but that bastard didn't so much as open up a crack on one side.

I've got a rubber deadblow hammer which also wasn't at the garage and I'm planning on bringing that to bear. Is there something I'm missing or should I just be more aggressive than I am now?

is the motor/tranny still in the car? since you said the block is out im guessing the tranny is out also? anyways...i had to take mine out today on my old 1st gen teg, greasy as no other and in ****ty condition and the tranny came out pretty easily...

get all the bolts out and it should spread open some..on my car theres a rear cover that is under where the tranny bolts to the motor, its black and thin metal but needs to come off (if its even on there) once it spread a little i took a big as flat head screwdriver and GENTLY pried the tranny away from the motor, making sure i didnt damage any of the surfaces.

just check and double check to see you have all the bolts out. if you do have them all out then it may just need some convicing to come off...good luck

I'm with gritsak... I pulled my block and tranny out at the same time too. I couldn't get my tranny off and didn't know why... then I looked and saw that the rear mount is attached to the tranny. I took the bolt out and the tranny practically fell off.

Did you take off your starter? Its got a bolt that connects the transmission to the engine. You wouldn't think it... but its there.

Yup both 14mm. The top one is short and doesn't go all the way through while the bottom is long and goes into the block.

I use the rubber mallet/flathead method. I've gotten to where I can take my tranny out in under an hour.

As many times as I've yanked the engine and tranny recently, I'm getting pretty good as well.
