Auto to 5 speed ???
I have a 93 del sol si, 66k miles.
I was thinking of doing a swap later on. I also want to make the car a 5 speed.
Anyway i was woundering how much it would be to convert that to manual. The engine im thinking about is a b16 or a h22. also where would i get the part and ect. to make the 5 speed conversion work ? besides a junk yard. Thanks again!

You are thinking of the VTEC model of the del sol:
S - non VTEC 1.6
Si - VTEC 1.6
VTEC - B16 (dohc vtec 1.6)
and, if i'm not mistaken, they all came with auto or manual.
There certainly is hope for you, wisconsinite (i feel funny calling you 93delsolsi) I have a 97 del sol Si that I converted to a manual with a little help from a friend -- of course you will have to change that sentence some - change "a little" to "a whole lot" and "a friend" to "quite a few people". But my car is a manual now, and runs like a champ(well, ran, I'll get to that). I spent just under $1000 doing my manual swap - that includes $200 for labor... which you are more likely to be charged $800 -- I just happen to have met a girl who happens to drive on a racing team and she hooked me up with her mechanic... the same week my automatic tranny died!
You will need -
clutch pedal assmbly
brake/gas pedal assmbly (or cheat like I did and use a manual brake pedal in you auto's assmbly)
clutch and matching flywheel (i think the 96-97 si was the only one with a different flywheel, so be careful of that)
clutch master cylinder - reservoir, fluid lines... crap, if you want a whole list, email me and i'll try to remember every little thing. There's a whole pissload of stuff you need, but if you scour the junkyards, you can probably get all your parts for $800 or less. If buy it all at one junkyard and get them to find the parts for you, expect to spend $800, then you will have to get your flywheel resurfaced, and buy a clutch.
and for the love of god, find a company that makes a transmission mount for this swap!! I know there is one, but i forgot the name. If you use the stock mounts in your car, the motor will sit at a funny angle... causing excessive wear inside of it and also (possibly) some unforseen consequences - the reason my car isn't running right now is simple - I couldn't afford an oil change at the 2000 mile mark, so I just kept checking my oil and driving the car. around 4500 miles on the same oil change my engine blew due to viscosity breakdown. When I drained the oil, only .5 qts (that is ONE HALF OF A QUART) came out of the engine... however the dipstick was still reading _full_. I will not make that mistake with my new engine... but save yourself the discomfort and pay $120 for a good tranny mount!!
hope this helps

I just finished my auto to 5 spd conversion in my accord, during my h22 swap. And emyrysm was 100% correct. Expect to spend 800 bucks, it cost me a grand once all motor mounts were done. The conversion itself isn't hard as all the holes are pre-drilled and tapped. Check with hondata or hasport to verify the dash harness for the 5 spd and the dash harness for the manual are the same. I simply went to the dealer and said sell me everything a 5 spd has that an auto doesn't. I don't recomend doing this to you though, because I ended up spending lotsa money on nuts and bolts, springs and pins, that I already had on the car. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.
