its Engine Swap Time
i own a 1995 integra special edition, and i will perform an engine swap. i really want to drop a B18C5 in my car, but my car is an automatic. will my LS auto transmission hook up to the B18C5?
i think so, the old motto on here is b series with b series, d series with d series, so i think your tranny would work. But...you really should convert to manual, otherwise what's the point in a swap.
lol i was just reading about this kind of swap...this guy couldnt drive a manual anymore after an accident and like so his doctor recommended he drive an auto...he found A B18C motor (Forget what kind, GSR or Type R) but it was an auto...it had to be imported from japan cuz thats where it was available
The biggest problem is there is no ECU that will control your automatic transmition and give you the VTEC crossover point, VTEC fuel maps and 8000 rpm redline at the same time. I'd imagine with enough work and research, you might find a way to do it, but I'd recommend you consider converting the car over to a manual if you want a DOHC VTEC engine.

Thank guys for all your useful input, keep it coming. I would love to convert it to a manual, do any of you know how much money it would set me back. Also, is there a post on hond-acura.net or a book that could give me a step by step walkthrough on converting my auto into a stick? If any one of you would like to reply with what exactly needs to be done for the conversion, which would be much appreciated as well.
There's a local shop here in PA that will do the labor for $250 if they're doing a swap, the parts costs vary on what they can find. Most places aren't as reasonable but it's honestly not that work intensive. I don't know of any books or good guides to doing it, but I know you need the pedal assembly, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and all the hard and soft lines between them, a manual ECU and the proper interior panels if you want it to look right. You need to properly wire the reverse lights (the wire is on the shifter assembly on an automatic and on the tranny in a manual) and the upper tranny mount sticking off the frame rail is different on an automatic car vs a manual one (think auto = /, manual = -). You either need a custom top mount for the tranny or to have the mount cut off the frame rail and the proper one welded on (at least for a civic, I would assume it's the same for an Integra). Aside from that, it's a bunch of bolts that need loosened and tightened. A complete parts car probably wouldn't hurt if it was an option but you could probably get everything from a junkyard.

Man there is almost never a NO when it comes to Honda/Acura. Ohh and there is an ECU.
Anyways to answer the guys question! You can do the swap. Im doing one for my wife this month on her civic. She wants a nice looking civic with the semi balls to back it up. The only problem is when you start building to the motor meaning aftermarket parts. The tranny will be turned to shit. If your not looking to build it them go for it. That motor will bolt right up and plug right up. About a 4-5 hour job depending on who is doing it. Deff a good thing to do yourself. Goodluck either way you go!
