Default JDM Swap problems CODE 6

My car is in a lot of trouble! The idle fluxuates at 1rpm to 2rpms. Like i'm reving it up trying to get someone to race. it's annoying and CODE 6 is flashing but everything seems fine! Any ideas? I just got a new wire harness and my buddy installed it and did volt checks and all that stuff. but they can't trace the idle problem. I have a 1997 JDM Type R (B18c5) (B18C acutaly in japan) inside a 1994 GS-R......my buddy says could be the interior wiring. lemme know if anyone has any idea.THANKS!!

Code 6, ECT Sensor (Engine Coolant Temperature)
defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor

Check the coolant temp sensor and it's wires.

swapped the sensor and the wires look good. i read somewhere else that it might be the wrong plug since it's a USDM harness, and that since the VTEC oil pressure switch plug is the same, that they could be switched. does that make any sense to anyone? it also said something about the JDM motor not having a VTEC oil pressure switch and that some mods were necessary. anyone know what i'm talking about?

ur half right, yes the vtec solenoid and ECT are the same size connector and are often interchanged by mistake during a swap

btw does the VTEC engage as is?

no vtec as is. and i still can't solve the problem. what voltage should the sensor wires be reading at? and can you make adjustments if the voltage is to high/low? also, could air in the coolant lines cause the code?

also, i had to swap out the JDM harness because it was trashed and i had to use a USDM harness from a GS-R. after the harness swap the code started flashing, but not before. so i don't know what's going on.

bad idea

i would only use an h23a1 or h22a/1 harness

if the accord wiring harness is different (and the accords F is very similiar to the H series), then obviously the GSR harness will probably be off since its for a B series

see if you can get a USDM h23a1 harness and just run 3 wires for the vtec thru the firewall
