car shaking
What year? Auto or manual transmission?
Does it shake more, less, or the same if you let up on the gas? How about when you disengage the clutch (or shift to neutral) and coast? What if you stay in a lower gear at the same road speed? More less or same vibration?

how long has it been happening? my car was shaking a lot all of a sudden one day. I found out that there was as bunch of snow and ice in my wheels. So, I just scraped it out and the shaking was gone.
Is the steering wheel shaking really bad or the seat? or both?
USUALLY, a shaking steering wheel is front tire related while a shaking bottom is rear related.
A car that is out of alignment as well as tires not rotated on schedule can lead to tires that can be deformed and can make the vibrations as well as making tires humm when you get up past 40 mph.

sounds like its outta alignment.
sounds like its outta alignment.
1. one worn shoulder on a tire(s)
2. pull in one direction, pulls consistently at all speeds (this can also be caused by a tire which is known as a "radial pull")(pulls at specific speeds or only when accelerating is known as "torque steer" and is caused by your transmission)(pull when braking is also obviously a problem with your brakes)
3. cocked (off-center) steering wheel (usually a result of hitting something like a curb at a decent speed)
Misalignment does NOT cause vibration--4 obvious things to check when getting a vibration:
1. tire/wheel balance (usually causes vibration at specific speeds 50mph and up)--also check or feathering/cupping wear patterns on the tires(which can be an indication of other problems
2. out of round wheel or seperated tire, also causes vibration at specific speeds, seperated tires generally create vibration at all speeds
3. loose or worn part in frontend/susp (strut mount, TRE, Balljoint, etc.)
4. transmission problem (can occur at specific speeds, but only happens when accelerating or when maintaining speeds, does not occur when in neutral)
my car is a 91 and its stick when i leave my ca in neutral it jus rolls but when im shifting from 3rd to 4th gear the entire car including the steering wheel shakes hard i would think that it needs an alignment but i was told that it would only prevent the steering wheel from shaking and turning on its own so i wanted to make sure that information was correct.
I don't have a '91 so I'll be kinda general.
If it's like one big clunk when you shift, then maybe engine mounts? Since it doesn't do it while coasting, that doesn't sound like unbalanced wheels. Maybe a driveaxle going bad so it wobbles under load? Maybe a loose ball joint that lets your steering knuckles wobble when you're accelerating?

so i would have to say its a problem with your transmission, since i don't know that much about FWD transmission systems I can't be much more specific

well if it was RWD or AWD i'd say it was a U-Joint...
