Cleaning Engine Bay
Vents are built into the reservoir caps (brake & clutch). They're pretty small & you usually have to dismantle the cap to find the vent. For the brake its buried in there along with the wiring for the float switch. But I guarantee those caps can't be airtight or you'd be blowing MC shaft seals.
Brake fluid gets pretty corrosive after it absorbs some moisture.
I don't get too anal about it, unless I have to spray water right onto the reservoirs. Besides I flush the fluid every 2 years anyway.

what happened to a few bottles of WD40, crap loads of cloth towels (or old T-shirts) and lots of elbow grease? Be one with the engine and clean it by hand  I've never really seen anyone hose down their engine bays before. But, what ever works is a personal preference.
mike,
mike,
you have to really try to do damage, the distributor has a gasket on cap and unless fooled with it should be water tight, i still steer away from soaking it, the plugs can get a little hairy, i got some water around the plug boot and filled the plug ports full of water, she ran like it was loosing fuel do to the insufficent spark, i wash mine at the car wash and go for it, as long as it's not a paper air filter and you dont hold it directly on the filter it'll be fine. there are cai systems that use a water drip solution to cool intake air. the brake and clutch res's are fine almost imposible to get moisture in them, the only thing that worries me is harsh cleaners on stainless or chrome surfaces, i use car wash to hose oil / heavy dirt off and then go to town with armoral on everything, it will shine everything.
For people that do not know what they are doing be afraid, be very afraid. Not saying don't try it just be careful. I do all my own work on my cars, and can tear through anything with a wrench and i have still had some major problems. The famous water in the spark plug tubes happens all the time, especially when i had nologys on my teg, not to mention the time that the water blew my coil, which was 70 bucks and scared the living shit out of me (car would not start). Just wrap the distributor block well, and use an air compressor to blow out the plug holes, all the abs stuff and all that is really nothing to worry about, neither is the intake.

I need to wash my engine again soon....all that highway driving makes it mess.
