Default i hate philips head screws

ok here is what the deal is. i have a 89 civic hatch and i will spare you the long story of how my stud broke but i went to take off the rotor to replace the studs and those two screws that hold on the rotor will absolutely not come off they even started stripping. i know i could probably take it somewhere and let them do their magic but i would rather "do it myself" so my question to you is, is there any way to get those damn screws out anything will help

thanks

Did you try using an impact hammer? They sell them for about $25 and they will remove those screws. If that doesn't work, you will have to drill them out. You could also try using a die grinder to drill a larger slot in the screw and using a larger flat head to remove them. Good luck though.

yes the screws can be removed try soaking them with wd-40 then use a center punch to try to brake the screws loose by hitting the punch with the hammer put the punch at an angle and try to make the screw turn counter clock wise. Or you could just drill off the heads of the screws, they are only there to hold the rotor in place when the wheel is off, you dont need them,or just go to Sears and get a stripped screw removeal tool kit.

Get them at the dealer. They are like $.70 a piece. You could probably go without them considering the pressure of the tire and the lug nuts will be more than enough to hold the rotor on.

I have that same tool for when I do my rotors. Haven't used it yet but my rotors are in desperate need of changing.

Impact drivers are great! Sears also has a bit set for damaged phillips heads. EZ outs I think they're called.....

Drilling is last resort.
