Default Octane on gasoline

Hey, well the gas prices have been jumping up dramatically recently and I have an Integra GSR. I was wondering if I can use one of the lower gasolines because premium is just getting costly. I know premium is better for racing but is it also better for ur engine? thanks

BUY REGULAR GAS AND ADD FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER AND YOU CAN ALSO ADD OCTANE BOOST. REG GAS IS THE FRESH STUFF.

Regular gas doesn't like the compression that our engine puts it through, and can cause detonation. And while our engines have a knock sensor to detect ping and retard the timing, since detonation = very bad, I'm not going to willfully expose my engine to it.

Here, in town, there's like a 10 cent difference between 89 and 91... and I'd rather spend the money and get the stuff my engine's supposed to use, but on a budget, I would entertain the idea of 89. I wouldn't use 87 unless I had no other choice...

Either way you're gonna spend some $$$. Cause the 87 is risky....but you do what you gotta do....

How this applies to Do It Yourself I have no idea, but here's my input. Virtually every gas station seperates available octanes by $0.10 which is then multiplied by, what 12 gallons of gas to fill your tank? $1.20 to not knock. $1.20... That's a lot of money, I can see the cause for concern.

So for the next few days or a week, skip buying two cans of Pepsi/Coke and instead drink from a water fountain. If that's too tough, avoid two vending machine Snickers Bars. It's easier, SAFER, and BETTER FOR YOU to save money on your eating/drinking habits than it is gasoline for your car. You bought a "high" performance four cylinder, and there is a price of admission.

over hear the "crap" petrol is 95ron, the "okay" stuff is 97 ron and the good stuff is 98 ron from shell. i run mine on 98 ron but on the track i run 106ron which is £40 for ten litres. roughly $34 a gallon. But my ITR is the jap import full spec and having an octane sensor in the line the ECU maps my motor to run like lightning on the 106 ron stuff. its 220bhp on the 98ron which is good enough for day to day use.
