It doesn't matter if you race or not. The reason that you are supposed to use hood pins is because there is no real way to get the metal hood latch to bond to the fiberglass material on the under side of the carbon fiber hood. Sure they can place it in the mold and it will hold good for a while, but not like the factory weld on the OEM hood which is metal to metal.

I just went through this whole thing and posted up a diy. One word of caution, the locking hood pins are harder to install since the contact point sticks under the hood by 3/4 of an inch. Here's my thread. http://board.hondasociety.com/showth...light=hood+pin
