Default Installing Hood Pins on VIS CF Hood

Just got a VIS carbon fiber hood and I couldn't find any details on installing the hood pins. Does anyone have any specific details and possibly some pics?? I have the general idea, but I just spent some good money on the hood and I don't wanna go screw it up when I drill for the pins.

thanks

I don't mean to flame but unless you're doing some serious full time racing, do you really need hood pins? I mean the whole point of the hood pins is quick uninhibited access for a pit crew or something.

Agreed. The only reason that I bring it up is because I have read the horror stories on the board about CF hoods flying up and taking out windshields and stuff. I really don't plan on doing any "full time racing," but I also don't wanna be doing 80-85 down the interstate and have it just fly up on me!!!

there should be a indication on the bottom of the cf hood where the hood pins go. if not then take it to a body shop.

My brother had his vis hood fly up on him the freeway about a month ago. He said he was going about 80 mph. The latch just broke right off.

It ended up busting his windshield and denting his roof.

THe thing that really sucks is that he only got $300 from the insurance when the deduct. was $500.

That's exactly what I am trying to avoid. I think that I am going to put them on this week, especially since my daily commute has me driving 80+ mph.

Thanks for all the input!!
