water leak
The hatch seal is perfect but the water seems to come from the sides of the trunk the most. Its not as bad as it was a few days ago driving around and every time you brake you get to hear a nice sloshing sound of that lake in the back. I think it might be the headlight assembly gaskets but im not sure i will have to jump in the back and get someone to hose it down i guess.
you have rust hole somewhere around the seal. pull it off and look for small cracks or holes. if its the gaskets the use light silicone around the gaskets to see if you can make a tighter seal. I don't like using mads amount a silicone in that area, cause if you ever need to take it off... it gets very messy!
rust holes around the rubber seal? its already been siliconed but i guess i could check it. If it came from the seal wouldnt it go straight down from the hatch opening it seems to be all over.
depends on where the rust spot is. i seen some REAL bad ones here in Hawaii(like mine, til i found the crack, and I just welded it shut) all you need is a crack about 1/16 inch long and about 2 hours of rain. if you don't find the crack in time it could lead to honda rot on your rear quarter panels(again depends where the crack is). you might not have a crack, but it's a safe idea just to check. depending on the color of your rex it may be hard for you to notice them (black, or dark colors).
ugh yeah i need to find that leak.. seems like the water in my hatch is in the right spot for honda rot... if its already pooled down in the crevices of the quarterpanels what should i do? Find the leak and take out the plastic panels to dry it after its fixed?
i took all the panels off and couldnt find the leak but it looked like the main leak was the headlight gaskets but it wasnt very much. I recleaned the sunroof drains and gave em a little silicone because the tube didnt like to stay connected to the plug. there was alot of condensation on the side panels i wiped what i could and filled a tray with some dessicant and left it in there, it should suck up some of the extra moisture and humidity.
you may want to clean out whats there and sealant primer those area to help reduce the chance of rust forming. I do that to my crx every 4-5 years since i have fixed all the troublesome spots. my friend epoxied his lol it was very messy AND he ended up losing one of his shirts HAHAHA (to this day you can still see the shirt stuck, and he cut the areas that wasn't stuck)
