Default why is my engine ticking still?

ok when I put my b16 in i chaned the timing belt and water pump. After getting the car runing I noticed the valve train was a little loud (ticking), this indicates need of a valve adjustment, so I did that and while I was doing so I realized that on the crank shaft pulley there is a white TDC mark and some red mark, well when I line up the TDC marks on the cams (they dont line up perfect but its close) the red mark on the pulley lines up with the TDC mark on the belt cover and not the white one like it is supposed to be. Is this bad or is it ok? The valves are still noisy. Im note really sure if the pistons are hitting them or what? Im not good at troubleshooting stuff. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Update: I adjusted the belt, and did a compression test. Both are good, and I still have this damn ticking noise. It is coming from the intake side, and is present even at idle. Cant hear it above 40mph, probly due to road noise. What the hell could it be? Thanks

If the timing marks are not aligning right, you need to take it apart and refit the tming belt. You will suffer some power loss from the cams being out-of-time.

You did adjust the valves to the proper spec, right? I've seen people try to adjust to millimeter specs with inch feelers, leaving a large gap that will tick very loudly.

A little valvetrain ticking is normal, older injectors also tick loudly.

Injector tick is obvious, you can put your finger to each injector and tell if they are the source of the noise.

Don't use BG products. They cost a lot of money with no return on the investment. Pro mechanics only sell the stuff because the plastic chips in the bottom of the cans are worth $0.25-1.00 each, along with easy labour time to use them. I have about $20 worth of those chips in my toolbox right now.

Might be the LMA's. That's what they were in my old B16.

another thing to check is to make sure you put all the bolts back in the cover over timing. i had the same problem thought i bent a valve but it was one bolt i missed. making it rattle(tapping sound)might help might not
