Default why is my engine ticking still?

ok when I put my b16 in i chaned the timing belt and water pump. After getting the car runing I noticed the valve train was a little loud (ticking), this indicates need of a valve adjustment, so I did that and while I was doing so I realized that on the crank shaft pulley there is a white TDC mark and some red mark, well when I line up the TDC marks on the cams (they dont line up perfect but its close) the red mark on the pulley lines up with the TDC mark on the belt cover and not the white one like it is supposed to be. Is this bad or is it ok? The valves are still noisy. Im note really sure if the pistons are hitting them or what? Im not good at troubleshooting stuff. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Update: I adjusted the belt, and did a compression test. Both are good, and I still have this damn ticking noise. It is coming from the intake side, and is present even at idle. Cant hear it above 40mph, probly due to road noise. What the hell could it be? Thanks
