Default Squeaking speedo?

My speedometer just started squeaking. Will it require a new cable, or can you somehow lube it? It sounds like the needle itself is actually squeaking, but i'm sure it's the cable. If lubing is possible, how do you do it? Can you simply take the cable from the tranny, and somehow squeze some lube up in the cable?

I guess u could try lubing the cable from the speedo side. Remove the cable by reaching under the dash, grab hold of where the cable meets the display, and feel for a "clip". Push the clip, and slide the cable right out, then I guess u could lube it. I don't know if u should do that though. Besides, the cable is only like 30 bucks from honda. I had to replace mine cuz the speedo kept jiggling between certain miles per hour.

Thanks. So you don't have to take the dash apart to get to the cable at the speedo?

Sorry, haven't been on here for days. No, u don't have to take the dash apart. Just reach your hand under there to get it. If your hands prove to be too big, u can remove the cluster cover bezel thing(4 screws), then remove the display(another 4 screws), and the speedo cable will be in the back of the display.

When doing my clutch, i simply lifted the cable up from the firewall, and skeeted some cable/chain lubricant in the cable and pulled the thing back and fourth a few times. This was from the tranny side. Squeaking speedo problem solved.
