Default 1990 Civic LX.

I just bought a 1990 Civic LX for 500$. Its in good condition, the interior is fabric, like new, but the engine has 195,245 miles on it. I'd like to Mod the engine more than the exterior, so if anyone has any suggestions for anything, im open to them. Im 16, and have a job, but i do have a budget, so if possible keep it cheap. Its a 5 spd, and all stock by the way... if that changes anything.
Thanks.

You have to pay to play. Simple as that...

How deep are you pockets.

Intake and exhaust are good starts, but I definitely suggest you do the timing chain and water pump if they have never been done, do some preventive maintenance first!!!

Or he can save for better upgrades, like a new engine. That's my opinion, a B16 or a GSR swap would be fucking sick in that car. I wish I could find a nice Civic Sedan for cheap...

I'd say bring it back to OEM glory and be proud of your ride.

i bought a front strut tower bar on ebay for $7.50 including shipping. now obviously my civic doesnt handle like a beemer, but i can definatly throw it around a bit more. so if you want to do something cheep, thats easy to install, that will actually make a noticable difference, id say put on a strut bar.

So, if i were to drop a GSR in it, that would cost me about what...around $2500?? i might be willing to do that, but what about the labor to install, and the assurance that it would work! haha. ive never done anything as complicated as an engine before. should i get it professionally done?
..and ill post pics when i get my camera. probably soon

You'll never notice the difference from a strut bar unless you already have a good spring/shock combo and good driving skills. For most people, a strut bar is a "bling" accessory (and the ebay bars look rediculous.)

For the engine, trans, and a P72, yeah.

Plus shipping, about $200.

Add on all the other goodies you need to get it in the car and tune it up, add about $1000.

Plus professional labour for someone to install it for you, add $1000.

It's not cheap at all.

Okay, so ive pretty much decided that im going to put a new engine in my car this summer. it will either be one of these two: http://www.speedtechracing.com/product_page.php?id=16
or
http://www.speedtechracing.com/product_page.php?id=17
My question is, when shopping for after market parts, i know it has to fit the engine, but what if it wont fit in the actual engine bay? Do i shop for the car body, or the engine?
