Im talking shit? Many or most of the problems posted on this site are solved by people who work at dealerships. If you dont know what you are talking about (and you didnt) dont try to help, it only confuses people and makes what can be a frustrating situation worse.
By the way the dealer will charge approx 1 hour labor to pull a radio and retrieve a code, at most places thats a minimun of $75
Im not sure if the "1-6" s/n retrieval will work on an '01 but it might. At my dealeship if a service writer does it,there would be no charge. If a mechanic does it there will be a minimal charge.
Ok, lets try to keep this clean and no more personal attacks. We are all here trying to help each other out. We are all car lovers so no need to offend anyone. Ok?

Actually, i work at an acura dealer. We wont give radio codes over the phone because that defeats the purpose of an anti theft radio. You need to come to the dealership and prove ownership of an Acura vehicle and have the serial number on the radio.

On newer models 01-up the holding buttons down thing works for the serial number on some models....
To the original poster of the thread, hey if you want to keep the code when you change your battery don't buy a cig. lighter power supply to hold the memory(hondas cig. lighter circuits only work with the ign switch on) so it won't work. If you were to turn the key to "on" the car would suck the power out of the 9 volt battery instantly and the radio code would be lost. What many of us do at the dealership is we get small jumper clips from radio shack and some wire and a power supply (12 volt. battery, motorcycle battery whatever and we clip on under the fuse box cover where the battery cables attach with phillpshead screws. we then change the battery and when we are done we then disconnect the clamps and there you go no lost code. I had a hard time trying to explain this in writing some ask questions if it sucks, it's really easy and I do it all the time when I change battery's.
