Default Power Problems

I have a 1998 3.2 TL and recently installed an alarm with 2-way pager and remote start. I now have the job done and it was working, but today when I went to get something out of the car the alarm disarmed but the led in the dash didn't come on. After that I discovered that there was no power to the entire alarm system. I then checked the ignition by putting in the key and trying to start it. The dash lights did not even come on. I tested the battery wire that runs up to the ignition and it has no power.

I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a fuse to the 12 volt source on the steering column or if there is any other reason for my power problems.

Thanks

Well, did you check to see if your battery is good? If nothing turns on and you can't start the engine, then your battery is probably dead. Who installed it for you?

I'm sorry, but I am not that stupid I just installed an entire alarm system on my car along with quite a few other things. I definitely checked that first. The thing is, is that when I put in the key and try to start to it the little buzzer come on and the door locks still work as well. That is why I am convinced that it has something to do with the battery source that feeds the steering column.

Hey man, you come here asking for help and no need to get defensive. Obviously you did something wrong because you installed the alarm yourself and now your car isn't right.

When you said there's no power to the alarm, you did get the power directly from the battery right and now from the ignition wire for your alarm? If the ignition wire has no power coming from the battery, did you check the fuse? Did you try to run a wire directly from the battery to the iginition wire to see if everything turns on? There are alot of troubleshooting things that you can do.

First, I want to apologize for what I said before, but I thought of that and figured that that was just an obvious troubleshooting fix. Second of all I want to thank you AcuraTL for the solution you gave me, but there is one other thing. Is there a fuse for the ignition and if so do you know where it might be located.

Thank You for your help and sorry about my previous response.

I am not familiar with the 1st gen TL but if you look in your engine compartment, you should see the main relay box and you should be able to check to see if any of them are for the ignition.
