amp goes into test(protection) mode

It was brought to me attention that it could be a cap that I need. Cause say I just turn on the car it plays for good 20-30 min, then it shuts off. If i restart it right away, it plays for only a few sec.

has it ever shut down while on the highway? if so, then throw that cause out....

yeah it shut off on the highway before, my lights still worked fine. I am thinking perhaps once the battery is getting drained the power is not "clean" anymore, and the amp detects that

I think myself and some others have said this before already...
..get a bench test somewhere. And of course, don't let them know anything about what it's doing...just get it tested. HiFonics is a excellent brand for amps, so it's uncharacteristic for it to be acting up. If the bench test proves it's bad, contact maxxsonics again and complain a lot until you get a new one. They'll take care of you.
