Yup, same thing.

Default HD vs iPod confusion

I'll be buying a used Accord in the next several months and definitely want to add an MP3 aux. jack. HD would be great, too.

I'm confused because the R2/R3 kits are typically referred to generically but rarely is the HD kit reference specifically. This is a problem because the requirements don't appear to be the same. The matrix lists full compatibility with '03 to '07 Accords, but makes no mention of the HD version.

The HD Dice website compatibility chart makes no reference to '03 and '04 Accords.

Is there something special that happened in 2005? Is there a workaround?

Because in 2005 Honda added XM to the higher-end models of the Accord. HD radio is tricky to use without text display, something which XM allows us to do. You could use the HD in a 03, 04 Accord but there would be no way to do text at all.

I have a 2006 Acura TL. It is not the navi system but does have the xm button. I am interested in the HD and IPod controls. Will these work in my vehicle? If so, what do I need to order and how much.

OK, I seem to be reading mixed answers here. I have a 2003 Accord EX-L sedan with navi. I primarily was only looking for a good iPod connection. Especially one that uses the steering wheel controls and has text display with an AUX input. It looks like the i-Honda-R3_g2 with the R4 cable is what I need. However in the post you submitted above, you say that text will not be displayed on the 2003 because they did not have XM. On your website, the compatability chart shows the 2003 coupe/sedan w/ NAV will show text. I do have Navi but not XM. I have a button labeled CD/AUX instead of the CD/XM. So which is true? Will I have text display or not.

Also, I hadn't really considered HD before but since you say that the HD_Honda does work on the 2003 models would it work the same. Keeping steering wheel controls and show text with my Navi unit? I know you can add the optional iPod cable and it comes with an AUX input with the HD unit so if it will work, I see a whole package in one to work with my car. Thanks for the info.

I have a 2002 Honda Accord EX with the in-dash 6-disk cd changer (no nav or xm of course). I was told that my unit does not have a AUX (used or unused) connection. Is this true?

What are my options for my ipod?

A 2006 without the XM button? You must have a Canadian headunit. If that's so the kit will still work and display text. The HD kit will work perfectly for you as well - just keep in mind that there are no HD stations in Canada.

In 2003 Honda updated the computer system in the Accord. But they didn't add XM capability til 2004 (This is true with most Japanese manufactures, for instance Toyota added satellite radio capability in 04 as well.) So unfortunately your car cannot display text.

I'll have to get them to clarify what radios are capable of displaying text.

No, your car does not have a AUX connection - but you can plug in our kit for the iPod and use the AUX jack built into it.

Hi, thanks for responding. I'm a bit confused. So do you have a product that will work? Thanks again
