Default little help

i need a little help on this.

I wanna get two alpine type r subs but im not too sure what amp i should get and if it will be too power full causing my headlights to dim etc. I dont plan on replacing my alternator unless it has to be replaced.

Should i just get the type s subwoofers? Has anyone had or have heard these?

The 12" Type Rs has a max rms rating of 500 watts. Getting a 1000 watt amp is asking for a lot of power from the alternator. You probably should be shopping for a SUPER efficient amp, or getting a less power hungry sub. There are a lot of subs out there that does pretty well with only 300 or so watts.

IDQ from Image Dynamics
IDv.3 from Image Dynamics
W3 from JL Audio
13kv from Elemental Design.

Just to share something, at max, I had 1200 watts going to my system. I had 2 4g power cables running from the battery to the trunk. Although this is not a huge system, it put a huge strain on my alternator.

so then maybe the type s subs would be more efficient since they have 900watts/300rms watts

what do u think?

Efficient isnt the right word. The Type S subs will just require less power. How much are you looking to spend on a subwoofer? You may not even need a pair. :happysad: I have my IDQ in a ported box, and it gets LOUD for 300 watts.

well im trying to spend under 150 on a sub and less than 250 on an amp preferably less than 250 on the amp.

i was considering getting just one type r sub and power it with a 600RMS watt amp i think it was the alpine MRD605 i may be wrong.

i just want to get good sound quality that wont affect my alternator.

i am open to other brands, but im trying to keep my cars system alpine. even though my headunit is sony :dunno:

Are you set on getting a pair of subs? If so, I would really take a look at the IDv3 from Image Dynamics. As for an amp, I have a 400 watt amp that I might be looking to get rid off. Brand new in box. PM me if you are interested.
