Yeah, but a pair of subs is always more bump in the trunk than 1 sub...I don't know if I completely buy the what the shop owner said, but hey, could be the truth. Anyway, I still favor a pair over just one sub...just seems like the way to go.

but i, myself, can tell the difference between 2 12s or 1 12 in my car. i dont know about db numbers, but i can tell a difference.

A sealed box holding 1 12" sub will have great sound quality, in that it will produce almost all ranges of low frequencies. But the downside is that it doesn't get very lound unless your pumping lots and lots of watts into it.
