i've heard both 2 10 and 2 12, and the 12's were just unbeatable. cleaner and deeper than 2 10". but comparing 2 10 with 1 12 is gonna be a different story

I'm basically repeating some info here, but with 2 10's you'll get punchier, tighter bass (and a little more accuracy). 2 12's will produce deeper, fuller bass. A lot of the sound quality will depend on the box you're using. Also, just as a side note, I'd prefer a pair of good 12's...I always prefer subs in pairs, and if you have the trunk space, why not use it? You can always adjust settings so that you're not being blown away by bass...I don't know...it's just my opinion...

EDIT: Another side note - I had a pair of IDQ 10's in my Nissan mini, and while it sounded awesome, it eventually got to the point where I wanted more. The subs were certainly sufficient, but it would have been nice to have the capability of going louder. That's a small part of why I went for a car after getting rid of my pickup...the ability to have too much (which is better than not enough). Well, that and I always wanted to build a decent Honda...

<< 2 12's

I prefer 2 12's for rap and techno. 2 10's would sound fine for techno as well. 1 10 does enough for rock. 1 12 is enough if you want to still hear you celly go off the rest of the day after driving h:

If you get 2 12's, you better have something that's gonna scream for the highs .

im running 2 12" eclipses and I've been happy with them. The only thing is i wish i had more space in my trunk... I'm thinking of just selling them and buying just one 12" sub that's higher quality and takes as much power as both combined. Then I'll have space and it'll still bump hard

Just a little FYI....

I called a local shop one time to ask some questions. One way or another, the shop owner I was talking to had done db test on some 10's. What he told me was 1 10 gave the same db reading as 2 10's. The reason 2 feels like it's louder is exactly that....more air is being moved and it "feels" like it's louder though to the ears it's just as loud as 1 10. Just though I'd chip in.

so 1 10 will have the same reading in a DB contest as a wall of 16 10s? itll just FEEL louder?
