i read an article saying that 125amps fuse is recommended size for 4 guage wire, and since i will be running 4 guage wire upfront, isn't 80amps to small? I told the guy at the stereo shop that i wanted 125amp fuse, then he said, he would increase that to 150amps upfront and leave no fuse from the Dblock to amplifiers :dunno: . im confused.
he sound like hes full of something....do this:

look at all components that are going to be taking power from the battery from that powerline. you said two amps. so on the two amps....add up the onboard fuse sizes. then that is the size that should be at the battery.

fuses are about the same price for all size. its the different types of fuses that cost differently.

im running a 4 gauge but have a 40amp fuse, thats because im only running 1 amp.

Yeah its not neccissarily "bigger is better" when it comes to fuses. If your fuse is oversized, instead of blowing a fuse during a short circuit or over-current draw, you melt wires and blow amps.

yes im referring to the same fuse as you are.

Im running 4 guage wire as well, using an 80 amp AGU fuse, not ANL.

Maybe it said 125A is the biggest you should have on 4 gauge. you should add up all the fuses and that is what size fuse you need. then look and see what size wire can handle that amount of current safely. but anl is more expensive than c/b's and agu is cheaper than c/bs

i think they charged me a flat rate for the wires so no matter what type of fuses i want, the totally with all the gears is still gonna be 1100 CND installed
