Default Ohm ?'s

in my car i have a older 500w jensen 2 ch. amp and 2 10"MTX blue thunders (4 ohm resistance) . i was reading it puts out 500x1@4 ohms, and 700x1@2 ohms. so my question is if i run the subs in series with the amp bridged (positive in to 1 sub, negative out to positive of other sub and negative back to amp)that would give me a 2 ohm resistance, right? would everything work correctly? is this a good idea or should i leave it parellel with 500w@4 Ohms?
any advice or imput would help me

No, running them in parallel will cut the resistance. Have 2 wire leads come from the positive part of the amp and 2 wire leads from the negative part of the amp. What you were talking about would make it 4 ohms i believe, maybe 8, but I'm not sure.

im not familiar with the blue thunders, but are they single voice coiled? or dual?

im just going to assume that they are single.

if you wire them in series, those 2 subs will net a resistance of 8OHM. if you wire them in parallel, those 2 subs will net a resistance of 2OHM.

so if they are indeed SVC subs, wire them in parallel.

what you seem to be typing is a series wiring... that would give you an 8 ohm resistance. the Jensen amp surely wont give you any where near 500 watts @ 4 ohms, nor 700 @ 2.
if you want to stress the amp you can run it @ 2 ohms, but I'd just suggest doing as you said and running it @ 8 ohms. At least it may last a few days without any magic smoke pouring out of it
yes the Blue's are svc 4's

whats up bumpin.
I dont know of any jenson's that are rated at 2 ohm mono. But thats how i would run it bridge the amp wire the subs pos to pos and neg to neg. Then if it does blow it gives you an excuse to get a better amp.
