Default Please help fast, Dynamat install question

I'm getting my Dynamat door kit tomorrow, and was wondering, do I take off all the wires before laying it down? There are lots of wires and stuff stuck to the door under the gray interior panel, should I remove them first, then dynamat, or just duct tape them down and dynamat right over them? Seems like it would be good to Mat over the wires, that way theres no way they will shift around and cause noise, but you also can't fix anything without taking the Mat off. Oh well, please give me your ideas wuick, I have lots of time tomorrow to install since we have a day off of school. Thanks.

Umm, the door and the skin? I've only ever seen the door be done, and I don't have enough Mat to do the equivalent of 4 doors, I guess. I thought you just did the panel that holds all the wires, i mean, is it possible to strip the door down to just the single metal skin? Thanks.

Yeah, the door skin is just as important as the part that "holds the wires" Make sure that whatever you do you remove the weather guard as needed....you want the mat to stick to the bare metal.

How much matt did you get?

I got 1 extreme door kit, (4) 12" by 32" i believe. That would be enough to do 1 layer on each door, but not enough to do both the skin and the wire-holdy part (whatever that's called) I was just going to remove the plastic weather sheet thats on the door right now, duct tape the wires down, then mat right over that. Then I guess you just punch out the holes you need and reinstall the trim peice?

BTW, just saw your "under the wires" comment. I've seen it done both ways, is it OK to go over the wires? Seems like you would put a lot of holes in the mat to end up with it under the wires.

sure if you mat over those wires, it's easier...but you will get less of the mat on the actual door panel. The goal is to get the weight of the mat attached to what will rattle and vibrate - the door!

I Don't remember what car you have, but there can't be THAT much wiring on there. Pull all the wiring off the door and then work the mat on there. Put the wiring back as needed. I'd try to put some mat behind the driver too though....if you have leftovers, etc...

OK, i'll get as much as I can off. I guess i'll just take all the leftovers from the door handle openings, speaker opening, etc. and stick them to the skin behind the 6.5". BTW, I've got a '96 Civic Coupe. Well, I guess i'm out of questions, LOL. If it helps a lot, I guess i'll get some cheap bulk stuff on Ebay and try and do the trunk, maybe floor if I have time, etc. Is it even worth it to do the trunk if I dont have any subs or anything back there? Thanks again for the help.
