Whats the difference in a high flow air intake and a cold air intake? What the best to buy and what should one look for.

Highflow? I think you mean short ram. The cold air intake sucks in colder air because of where it is mounted on your car. Usually on a honda the filter is mounted down next to your fender/fenderlineing/tire so it gets colder air as your short ram intake gets hotter air because it is in the engine bay.

Cold air intake gets your more hp and torque.

haven't heard of a high flow intake...but the cold air intake and short ram will both be a high flow intake...because they have bigger, better filter design than stock and have bigger, better, smoother design for the piping...short ram is worse than cold tho...basically same as 96jdm said...cold air = dense air = more 02 molecules = better power...u have small chance of hydrolocking...soembody on the board just did it...but think bout how many times u see or will plan on seeing a 16" puddle...the filter needs to be fully submerged to hydrolock...no big

short air ram intake is what I meant for the high flow intake. Should I pay big buck for a K & N air filter and pipe set up or is a piece of pipe really just a piece of pipe? What do others out there Have? Are you happy and how much did it cost? Here are some pics of some of the ones I am looking at.

front mount

the main differance between all of these and a brand name is in the support system. with the Ace intake (i've never heard of that before) it looks like the intake will just hang off of the throtle body. with the AEM setup, there's support brackets along the tube.

if you live in CA, AEM and Iceman are the only CARB exempt intakes. you won't pass your visual inspection otherwise.

So my question is which one of these would be the best bang for my buck? Bomz is a good name brand from what I know. I don't know anything about ace intakes. Will the ace intake fit in my OEM air filter box, or would I have to just remove it? If it does go into my OEM air filter box would it not still be a cold air intake bc the air box picks up air from the lower front of my car anyway. Why would anyone with a decent car drive through 16 inches of water to lock up the air in and out?
