I live in the south east so all the cali laws I am not worried about. Inspections around here equate to showing a guy proof of insurance and registration and then you pay him he give you a sticker and a razor blade to slap it on yourself. lucky us.

Will the ace intake fit in my OEM air filter box, or would I have to just remove it? If it does go into my OEM air filter box would it not still be a cold air intake bc the air box picks up air from the lower front of my car anyway. Why would anyone with a decent car drive through 16 inches of water to lock up the air in and out?
Bomz

the intake system will replace your entire stock setup. (airbox, tube to throtle body, resonator)

you will hydrolock your engine if you drive through deep enough puddles. if you live in an area that's flood prone, i'd go with the AEM CAI with the breather valve.

if your filter becomes submerged in water, the 2nd valve along the tube will open up and allow the engine to breathe. also, notice the support brackets along the way. you won't find that on the generic ebay intakes you've posted.

look at them ... what do you see ...

blue rubber sleeves
chrome tipped filter
hose clamps

i'd be surprised if these weren't made at the same place.

So what are good air intake replacements? Just AEM are they the best. I don't mind to spend some money, I just want to make sure I don't by crap. I don't know much about intakes. So guys through me some clues , so I know what to look for. So will the water get the filter wet and stop air flow? I think that is what you are trying to tell me. So I should diffinatly look for one with a breather valve. So what else should I look for?

Here is an AEM cold air intake. Besides one pipe whats the difference? This one has sleves as well for attachment. And what is a breather valve? Is it just a glorified hole in the pipe at its highest point?

not really. with the amount of times i would have changed my stock paper air filter, my intake has paid for itself. the intake filters are washable and the recharge kit is only $10 for a 3 time use.

the breater valve will let the intake suck in air when the filter is completely under water. search "hydrolock" and read about the horror stories. the valve comes in different sizes, so find the one that matches your system. it should be about an additional $40 (on top of the cost of the intake), but it's worth it ... its either the valve, or a new engine.

when you read the stories ... they always begin with "well, it happened ... i though it would never happen to me, but ..."

you need to attach the valve along the pipe, but too close to the throtle body. to install, you need to cut your pipe in half.
