Default What is Hydrolocking?

I guess it has something to do with water getting into the intake?

I have an AEM CAI on my 6th gen, should I be worried or cautious during rainy weather? I have yet to have any problems so far in driving in heavy rain. Here is a pic of mine it is located by the front gfx where a foglight could be placed at.

I asked this same question a while ago myself...and the awnsers i got were that you are fine as long as the filter is not submerged in water, the only time to be worried is if you go through places where there are deep puddles or somthing.

Thanks dude, I was wonder what was up, I pretty much drive this car in nice weather anyway unless the weather just happens to come out of nowhere of course, good thing I got a beater for the winter time.

haha, yeah i was all paranoid about that as well, it seemed like a easy thing to do, but i guess not, u could get one of those bypass valves, but i dont know about you, seems like cutting that, and making metal shavings enter the pipe is a bad idea, plus some people say they dont work anywayz

Thanks bro! I really love it, alot of my friends thought it was clean and not ricey, most my friends are domestic owners as well, so it's an extra compliment when they like it!

But it's my ride and I love it no matter what!

I will just take my chances w/o the by pass i baby this thing so much i hardly drive it in the rain, i usually check the weather channel in advance lol! My 1992 chevy beretta will go out in the rain for me.

Hydrolock is water getting into the engine and causes it to seize up.

your filter looks like it is exposed to alot of crap from the opening in the bumper. i would be very careful when behind someone in a rainstorm so that their spray doesn't send enough water in to mess up your motor. what i would do is make a sheild for that filter out a windsheild washer fluid bottle. cut a hole in the bottom to fit the pipe through and trim it down so it blocks water from hitting that side of the filter.
