?Service @ 60k???
hey bro. I did it now and got it out the way. Some people say 90k but a lot of people told me say 60k. Since most of us don't drive like the average person I would say do it at 60k just to be safe. I would just say please don't wait too long. Better off spending the money to change the belts then get a whole new motor if you don't have the money for it.
This as takin from www.accordinglydone.com
90,000 miles / 3 years
"1. Replace timing belt and balance shift belt (replace the timeing belt every 60,000 miles on 97 and under accords) "

I dirve it. live in NJ and go to school in MD and make a few trips here and there. Too me it looks like I drive a lot but I mostly average 3,000 every 3 months. Give or take.

You like to baby you car huh! You could go to dealer for maintenance but I promise that they will rape/rob you. Have you a trustworthy mechanic in your area. How the brakes holding up? And are your sparks burnin like they should!
I just checked spark plugs today they looks pretty clean not to dirty (denso iriduims) wires still feels strong (accel thundersport) I try to keep it under control...
I work all damn day in the city and go to school at night so the only real time to drive, but the weekends or late nights when i get the shakes and wanna make some noise.
As far having a good mechanic, nope not yet... and I sure as hell dont wanna visit damn dealer.
Brakes holding up pretty good their stock, waiting a little while longer before i put EBC green stuff and EBC grooved Drilled & Slotted rotors, which are sitting in my room catching dust with my hp blues and springs.

That's part of the problem I have with honda... by the time you do all that, you practically have a new car... why wouldn't it last for ever? I recently dumped around $2100 onto my 96 w/ 76000 miles and it is still extremely unsmooth and shifts harsh...
Too many little things to take care of and is still not rewarding...I still don't understand how can so many people claim that their cars still drive like new after tens of thousands of miles. My Lexus w/ 4500 miles doesn't drive like when it was new (engine, tires and differential are getting noisy and doesn't feel as solid as when it was new...).
I am a little discouraged and want to go back to German...

my old volvo is now driven by my mom has almost no problems other than broken engine mount every once in a while. Accord also has that problem, I I had the front engine mount replaced twice already on my wife's accord. I am still getting stuck with the idea of distributer and rotor cap... I never had to replace those components on my old bmw, audi and volvo; I didn't even remember replacing spark plugs. Those cars are running smoother even with out those services. Something interesting is that I used to get about 22mpg, I then recently learned that you need to clean fuel injector; after cleaning the injector, the car gave me 24mpg. I actually was freaking out when I first drove the accord w/ 22mpg. My previous A4 1.8T has much higher output and has all wheel drive gave me around 22~23.
After that I have a bad driver side window switch; then my driver side window was broken and would fall down, I had to tape it to go to the mechanic. later on, my airbag controller unit broke and costed me around $600; then the higher than expected maintanence cost...
I grew up with European cars around... I was told the legendary performance, reliability and low cost for operation of Japanese cars. The Accord was a forced on since that's the car my wife drives when we got married. I have nothing but trouble and I am just very discouraged. I keep on questioning myself why would people buy a car like this if it is how it drives when it was new; I was also told by local mechanic that the car is in excellent condition considering its age. I tried to sell the car, but the price offered was extremely low (lower than 1 month salary)...
I am pissed, but I want to make a sound decision. My wife keeps on apologising for the car for causing me trouble after trouble; the car is not worth $, it runs but it is extremely unsmooth (engine, power delivery, transmission) and is not very reliable. Don't want to keep it, but no sense throwing it away...
Bottom line is that I am just venting and feel bad cause my experience if completely different from what everybody else experiences. I am still a little curious about people claiming their car running like brand new after tens of thousands of miles though... Maybe my dumb luck doesn't permit me from having a car like that...

sounds like you bought lemon
did you buy it used or new?
the problems you are describing are not common. when i had my f22b1 motor in my accord, the only problem i had was the tranny started slipping at around 93K which is probably mostly due to me. of course it has the minor problems like the fuel guage being inaccurate and the heater knob sprining back, which minor to problems with euro cars. the the thing i noticed with european cars, is that they all have the same problems and they are major problems that are $$ to fix.
how about those coil packs on the 1.8T???
