You shouldn't really tolerate having an idle any higher than it should be...it indicated there's a problem with the vehicle which could affect gas mileage and performance.

If you have an automatic, a high idle is going to put a lot more strain on your tranny as well.

Hey, 98CoupeV6
how do I do seafoam is there a thread that displays that in detail. My spark plugs are in good condition. I only have 42,000 miles on my 1997 accord.
Please let me know.

Default Low idle speed!!!

Where can I buy the seafoam at??? :hsdunno: Also my dad told me something about cleaning with a carb cleaner is that the same thing or is that different cleaning. Thank you for your help. :thumbup:

I was thinking it depends how cold it is outside also.
right now mine idles a little more than 1000 when cold and once its warm it goes down to 500. In the winter when is reallly cold like 15F and lower the car idles like at 1500-1700.

There's plenty of threads about seafoam and where to buy it. Really works and helps A LOT.
