aight for me i never autocrossed b4 just mostly street race time to time so having the dry traction was all i worried about. giving up wet preformance for price wasnt much of a concern cuz i take it easy when its raining

Actually you are wrong about the tread wear on the 712s. Go to whalentire or tirerack and put in 215-45/17 and you will see that the tread wear on the 712s are 280. Just wanted to get the facts straight because I love my kumhos.

Dunlop SP Sport A2, a full set installed for me was about $368. They are very sticky dry and great in the wet too. I hadn't really really pushed them in the wet, but I remember when my old tires were almost bald and I would hydroplane @ 50 mph. Well not I can ride in the same rainy type weather and cruise @ 80, no problems.

For about $10 cheaper than the kumho's, You could try Sumitomo HRZII's. I had those before my current kumho's, and to be honest with you, they were a better tire. A little stickier, and alot better in the rain than the kumhos are. Thre treadwear seems to be about the same.

i should have pointed out i'm looking at 205 55 15s which are V rated tires. one thing some people don't realize is that Kumhos has a V and Z rated 712s depending on size, which of course means they have different compounds. i think the Z rated version with the 280 tread wear is probably much better.

as for the sumitomom HRZIIs, my friend has them and they seem pretty good. tirerack i believe has a test with 712s, HRZIIs, and AVS ES100s. the 712s were last and the AVS ES100s were first i think.

dunlop Sp A2s- are not a high performance tire, they are stock replacement type tires.

Whalentires.com has Kuhmo 711's for $64 and the 712's for $84 both are the 215/45/17 size you are looking for.

that's true, if you have a really nice car or really push the limits of your tires then you should be buying something better like S03s.

the thing is if you don't push those limits your just wasting your money especially if you do lots of dragracing. the cheaper name brand tires do perform well just not to the highest levels that may be needed by some. one of my friends is big into autocrossing and drives a 2001 audi 1.8T. in that situation cheaping out on tires is just dumb. or like some of the tards you post reviews at tirerack who buy cheap ass tires for their 40K+ car. one comes to mind i was reading today. he put dunlop FM901s on his mercedes CLK450 or something that and he bitches about them. well duh.
