aem cold air and generic
hey guys what is the diffrence between the both... i am prob just gonna use a k&n cone filter and the generic is a one part and so is the aem but wut the big diffrence ...does any one think there will be a big diffrence in a 6th gen 5-speed...
AEM is better quality and is performs better.... the AEM is a single piece, where the cheap others are mulitple put together. The AEM comes with quality filter, unlike the cheap ones.. You can use a K&n filter on the end of the stock tube, but wont look as nice, and sound a little different.
I got into an argument on this board at some point with some fool who claimed a pipe is a pipe and thats all there is to it. Well, I got news for ya, talk to any mechanical engineer anywhere and they will all tell you that the shape and size of the pipe has a LOT to do with the way air flows through the system. So its up to you to decide if the extra 100 bucks is worth it. You are basically paying for engineering. I bought an AEM and im very happy with it. . .
Yes, i agree. The differences are rather significant. In physics, even the smallest things matter. The reason why AEM is so known despite their large price tag is that they have tremendous amounts of R&D done to the Cold air intakes, which ensure that their intake's shape, bends, diameter, length is the most optimal design for the specific car model. Like the general rule of thumb in everything, you get what you pay for. Dont skimp out on car mods, or you'll regret it and come back to redoing it over, which will cost u more in the long run. Why do u think AEM CAI is the best selling intake system of all time, despite the price? there is the very good and worthwhile reason for that.
