Youde have to be pretty stupid to pay markup on a car just because it was new. What it comes down to is that the srt-4 is 19,995 and the wrx is a few thousand more. The srt-4 will beat the wrx in a straight line 9 times outta 10 with good drivers. The wrx does feel like a better built car, but Subaru is not known for excellent manufacturing in general and their cars (Impreza included) tend to be very problem prone.

Actually no they dont. I wasn't being an ass before but now that you have criticized the WRX... where are you getting your info? The WRX is faster than the SRT-4 buddy... a good bit at that.

Ouch man, Im sorry but you are uninformed. The srt comes stock with 220hp and 245 lbf of torque. Thats AT THE WHEELS. The WRX has 227 hp AT THE CRANK routed through their AWD system. Thats a substantial amount of drive train loss.

Do a little research man! The srt is consistently running the 1/4 in 14.0s, with a couple 13.9's in full stock trim.

I would never take anything away from the WRX as far as being a badass car for autox, rain, snow, etc. but its simply not as fast in a straight line. (the sti fills that gap for an extra $10k)

That video was originally debated and contested by the WRX owners. As each one of them saw the srt consistently working the WRX for themselves, they started to quiet down.

I heard that Dodge underrated the horsepower for insurance purpose. From the Dyno I see, the WRX has like 170HP-180HP at the crank. SRT-4 is lighter than a WRX so do the math!

Well I personally care about cornering, but yes the SRT-4 is like half a second faster in a straight line. Either way, I'm the kind of person that has to buy the top model of my car, So I would never buy the normal WRX, I would save for an extra year and buy the STi... worth it to me. Besides that... ITS FWD!!!!! You CANNOT have a FWD sports car... PERIOD. Now I know that we are getting off the subject here because reguardless your modded car would be FWD as well. But seriously, the WRX's have been EXTREMELY reliable cars, so you have no right to say crap like that... I know how Neon's are... but I will give the SRT-4 a chance.

Yes you are correct about what Dodge did.

I base my concerns about Subaru's build quality on one of the J.D. Power initial quality studies. I dont have the link here with me at work, but I will paste it when I get home. I think it was in 2001. Subaru placed like 86th out of 95 or something. Ive heard the complaints about this type of study as it is limited in what it has to say about the cars overall quality and I agree with some of them. I do, however, think its fairly obvious that neither Subaru or Dodge are going to be giving Honda or Toyota any competition in the quality category.

btw, I think ive decided to buy a used Lexus SC300 and drop in a Supra TT!!! Luxury and 450 hp.

I just want for you to know, J.D. Power initial quality studies and awards are funded by auto manufacturers, I used to think they meant something, but now I know this. The awards are basically bought...

Nice on the car choice. But it would probably cost more than the other choices... why not just put a turbo on the Supra/IS engine, although it would cost more.?

And I don't remember the Supra TT having 450 hp stock... are those numbers including other mods?

http://www.powerhouseracing.com/sc3002.shtml

Im honestly just learning about this engine myself and the difference between the US spec and Japanese spec versions. 450hp is supposed to be easily attainable with either version of the engine and with a good garage and a little expertise the swap is supposedly not too bad.
