Help with my 2003 Accord...!!
Yo everyone,
I bought my Accord V6 in November and when I bought it they only had automatic V6 models but available 5 speed 4 cylinder models. I wanted the V6 and at the time I really needed a car so i bought it.
This car is really fast!!...but in March they released the V6 six speed!
The Accord I have now, for some strange reasons, has been having some interior and exterior problems that a new car should not have!! I have talking to my dealer about trading in my automatic and getting a six speed but they are still waiting on getting one because they are VERY rare (like 1 every month).
What do you guys think? Is it worth it considering I am going to have to pay a little difference because my current accord has miles on it? I know that the 6 speed is really fast though!!
Help me out.
Thanks

Well, obviously your warranty will cover all the interior/exterior problems...that's the problem with buying a first year model.
As for trading it in for a 6 speed, you will take a hit...you need to figure out how much and see if it's worth it.

The problems do not have to be severe for me to trade it in...the dealer already agreed to let me trade it because all those bastards want is my money...I know that the problems can be fixed by warranty but those problems just give me more of a reason to trade it in..Muhaha.
They haven't told me how much it is going to be yet though..It matters how much they appraise my car for and then i will pay the difference. I will keep you guys informed.
Thanks for all the help.

I test drove both an V6 EX coupe with an automatic, and a 6sp. Manual, and honeslty could not tell a noticalbe difference in the performance of the two. Because the dealer did not want to talk price wise on the MT I went with the automatic, which is very smooth.
Also be ready for the dealer to add on about $2000-3000 worth of dealer add ons like an underbody kit, spoiler, and fog lights. The one they had at my dealer was stickered at 28,500, instead of 26,000 like the auto. When thinking manual you should consider if you really want one that bad, they are fun for a little bit, but can get really tiring in heavy traffic once the new wears off. Plus on the two models gas milage was the same. And like I said before not much difference in performance.
you're problems aren't that "severe". I think you're just trying to rationalize and you have you're mind set on getting the 6 speed and by thinking you got major problems, it justifies trading in your current car in your mind. The problems should be fixed by warranty. There are always bugs to be worked out with the very first cars during the first year usually. you've got your mind on the 6 speed and probably are looking for an excuse to get the other car rather than dealing with the warranty repairs. Hey if you got the extra cash laying around go out and get it, but don't make the excuse of "severe" problems with your brand new car. I think it's just you're way of thinking and it feels good to make yourself believe there are "severe" problems so when you trade it in and pay the extra cash, you won't have second thoughts or regrets about the trade. That's just my two cents. Good luck on whatever you choose to do.

I picked up my 03' Honda Accord EX-V6 Coupe (auto) in graphite pearl in late November. At the end of the Jan. 03' my Accord Coupe was rear-ended by a 72yr old male motorist who wasn't not paying attention to traffic in front of him. Total cost of repairs was $4600.00 and that's just the estimate. The car only had 2300 miles on the odometer and was less than 2 months old. I finally got the car back from the autobody shop in the middle of Feb.
The repairs were done and the car looked like nothing had ever happened but in the back of head I couldn't stop thinking that the car was already damaged and it just didn't feel right so I decided to trade the car in for an exact same one but this time in nighthawk black pearl. The Honda Dealership gave me $23,000 for the car (Brand New is MSRP $24,900) but I still owed another $3000.00 on the loan so I put a down payment of $2500.00 and drove a brand new 03' Accord EX-V6 Coupe in nighthawk black pearl off the lot the next day (They had to get the car from another dealership).
My monthly payment only rise by a few dollars because since the Honda Dealership helped me get into a brand new car I bought the extended warrenty from Honda (This is where dealerships make their money... from used cars & selling extended warrentires).
IMO, go for it! You've already set your mind to it and if you keep yourself from not getting what you really want it will drive you nuts! I tried to avoid from getting a new car but I just couldn't resist the tension.
Be ready to put down some cash (at least enough to cover the tax, registration, fees, etc). Don't let the dealer fool you into putting down more than $2500.00 because they are only trying to profit. The dealership where I bought my first 03' Accord Coupe wanted $5000.00 as a down payment but I told 'em "bleep NO!"
Their excuse was the Bank wanted a bigger down payment. Which is total crap! If a Bank can finance you for $26,000 then they can finance you for $30,000. I have excellant credit so that helps as well. They told me they couldn't do anything for me so I left and went to their rival Honda Dealership. I told the rival dealership I will only put down $2500.00 and no more! Tell 'em you will gladly put down less but $2500.00 is the max. you will put down! If they don't want to play just go to another dealership. Hopefully you will find a dealership that is desperate for a sale (I recommend the smaller Honda Dealerships). Get the dealerships to compete for your business. These dealerships are only out to profit from you. They are not your friend even tho they try to act one. Don't be fooled, you gotta play their game. Be a nasty SOB!!!
BTW, I feel I made the right choice and the one I have now I feel a lot... no I feel a whole lot better and satisfied! Oh yeah, I'm getting a $1800.00 check in the mail from the other guys insurance company for the loss of value (diminuished value) of my 03' Accord. A big fat ol' check. To bad I have to pay off a school loan... fudgeee...
BTW, here are some pics of the old one and the new one. I've ordered a set of H&R Race springs (2.0f & 1.8r) drop. 18x7.5 (50mm offset) Advan Kreuzers Series 5 rims in gun-metallic. Already got some 225/40 series Yokohama AVS ES100 tires. In the near future, oem underbody spoiler kit, oem foglights, Injen CAI, big brake kit, and sound system.
Here's the new one! 2003 Honda Accord EX-V6 Coupe in Nighthawk Black Pearl!
Here's a pic of my Prelude and my younger Bro's Acura Integra pictured with the Accord.
