I paid $4000 for my first tranny that went out, and wait about 3 months before Honda actually reimbursed me. Thank god they actually did. You pay the $4000, and spend half your life at the dealership, and you too my friend will be posting your bad experience everywhere you can. I'm just trying to help somebody from getting screwed. Be smart, and buy yourself and Toyota, Nissan, or hey even a FORD, They less problems. I can't speak for everybody, but I could definetly speak for myself, and thats why HODNA now has a lawsuit pending. They will give every penny that I paid for my honda 2 years ago!
You had a lemmon. I can't defend Honda at that. But I won't bash them, either. I know whatever we say won't change your mind, so that's why I say there is no real use for you to go crazy here. If you haven't noticed, this site is for Honda fans and people who appreciate the cars. We appreciate your input, and will consider your opinions as appropriate. Thank you.

How can it be when, everyone you has this problem. When you go to the dealership and the have 5 scheduled tranny changes everyday. 1.6 is what Honda says to somewhat cover their bare naked ass. They give us Bullshit, and wow, some of you actually beleive it! YOU DO THE MATH!
The NHTSA closed the investigation on the transmission because there were so few problems you idiot. Speak fricken english, your sentences don't make any sense. There were something like 160 reported cases out of a possible 180,000+ V6 cars, not nearly enough to cause a mandatory recall. If "everyone" had this problem, why were there only 160 reported cases? why have my two Accord V6's with a combined 140k miles had absolutely zero problems?

"Honda says the extended warranty, which covers the transmission only, affects about 1 million vehicles. It says 1.6% of those vehicles have had to have transmissions replaced."

Why the fu would Honda lie?

There will be no lawsuit. You can't sue a car company for something that goes wrong with the car. Get a life. You got a bad apple, deal with it. HONDA REIMBURSED YOU. Who cares if it took them four months? THEY REIMBURSED YOU.

Let me explain why a lot of idiots like you think everyone in this webboard has this problem. When people have a problem, they commonly try to GET HELP. That's what you're doing. You have this board full of 85% enthusiasts and 15% people who have problems with their cars...and a percentage of those 15% who are more interested in bad mouthing the entire car company for their bad experience instead of listening to reasoning.

Cool, yes I do have a lemon. Tell you the truth, I was a big Honda fan before I had this whole ordeal. My car was pretty fixed up and my friends and I actually had a car club. So really this experience hasn't been the greatest. I might be a honda fan in the future, probably will, but for right now it probably not gonna happen. If my lemon case goes through I may just ask for another honda, to see my experience can be any better. When I bought my honda, it was because I heard that Honda's were just as good as Toyota's, so far it hasn't been the case.

To 98coupeV6, you sound like you work for Honda. I do speak english you dumbass, you probably just can't read it. Listen guy, I got nothing against, nor did I say anything against you. I'm just trying to defend my case, just like your trying to defend yours. What Honda says is not always true, because their a big corp, and they look at the dollor rather than the consumer, sometimes, but not always. I can give you an example, I called Honda once for the problems I had with my broken Tranny mount, and engine mount and asked them to goodwill it for me. I was preety pissed, do you know what the rep said. He said, I sounded like I would never buy a Honda agian, and honda only goodwills there cars to keep a good relation so that I would buy another Honda in the future. Basically he said, If I say that I will not a buy a honda again, they won't help me out. I thought that was really ****ed up. Put yourself in my situation, you'd be pretty pissed of too. For right now, I can't say I like Honda, depending on how they take care of my with my current situation, will decide if I buy a honda again. We'll see.

I understand your situation and I would be very pissed as well, but I wouldn't discount the whole brand because I got a lemon, unless many other people had the problem. At least Honda is stepping up to the plate and offering extended warranties. It strikes me funny that you said Ford is better to buy than Honda..do you know how many people have died in Fords because of their ineptness? Tens of policemen have died in Crown Vics that were rear ended because the gas tank was in a poor position...Ford just fixed it this year, after like 17 deaths and 5 years of complaints. Remember the Firestone/Ford fiasco? Clearly Ford's fault, as they put poor quality tires on a model. The tires were fine, but they were clearly not meant to be put on an Explorer. Ford knew they sucked too, they were just trying to save money. Sure Honda is after the bucks, but not nearly as bad as most manufacturers, as they make the most money per vehicle sold...something like $2000. Keep in mind GM and Ford lose over $1000 on each vehicle sold.

I do see your point. I'm glad you understand, and I do understand what all Honda fans are saying. Trust me, I was one of them, may be still be one. You said, I'm looking for answers, I am. I didn't know what I should do with my car after the tranny went out on the freeway. That's why I came to the forums for help. So far, I've got a little feedback, and it is helping. I'll let everyone know how it goes with my case. Thanks for all the help so far.

I think your best bet at this point is to drive it off a pier and make an insurance claim

haha, in that case, i must find a pier.

seeing how my garage has four 6th gen accords, yes four, i have noticed:

-50% clock going out
-25% tranny problem
-50% sunroof rattling or serious problems
-100% unsatisfactorily weak paint
-50% gas meter/sensor defect

out of three ex v-6's and one 4-cyl.

Wow, it makesme sad for this poor kid who is trying to find a good car to buy, and is fed a bunch of alarmist crap by one guy who had an admittedly BAD experience with his vehicle. Vick, we are all glad that you and your sister survived the near accident that you were in, but you need to make peace with it. Honda held up their end of the bargain admirably, and took care of your costs. If you are still not satisfied, then sell the car and go buy your crappy-ass Ford, or Chevy, or Hyundai, and leave the rest of us on this board (who all like Hondas or we wouldn't be here) alone. And do yourself and your sister a favor... get some therapy.

Oh God no. In that case, I'll stop bitching about the little minor problems on my Honda. It's nothing compared to a $1000, 6 month REPAIR bill on a Ford Tempo at 70k miles!! I'm never gonna get anything less than a Honda (unless I'm gonna play bumper cars w/medschool friends in the future). In other words, my next car will hopefully be a Bimmer, Benz, or somethin.

Hey Kabuki, I don't think you understand half the story. Honda's held up their end the bargain, how? By having the tranny go out 3 times, or having my car in the shop for a combined month, or maybe driving 25 miles each way to get to the dealer when gas is like $2.40 a/gal out here in Calli, no wait, maybe it's that they won't pay for a rental, so I can't get to work the next day. Yes I'm complaining. The only way Honda can hold up their part of the bargain, is to buy the car back or replace it, and I'll let you guys know what they do. No, I don't need any therapy, but trust me, if you were sitting in the driver seat, you would of freaked out too. That's why it so easy for someone like you to rag on my case, because it didn't happen to you, so you don't know jack. As for the kid that's looking for a car, buy a Honda, cuz I'm not saying all Honda's are bad, I still love my car, but I can't go on with it, because it's just nickleing, and diming me to death. I did have a bad experience and maybe if I ever own a Honda again, I won't have to deal with it. I did exaggerate when I said ford is better, but truthfully my dad's ford has had less problems than my Honda and it has over 100K mi. Maybe he's just having a better than average experience with his. I realize their is a lot of die hard Honda fan's here, so preach on! I think I'm gonna end this now, and I'm sorry if I offended you Honda fans. Lets get back to the kid looking for a car. The one thing I can say about Honda is, I heard their customer service is pretty good, and if it is, they'll take care of me.
