truck drivers learn to do this alot, it seems to be easiest in diesel motors. i learned how to do it in a '98 PowerStroke, but i won't try it in a car.
how does the rpm difference equate into when you shift without using the clutch. shifting from 3rd to 4th, when would you shift without the clutch? Your explaination earlier is still confusing me. Thanks.
The main function of the clutch is to get you started from a stop. You need to use the clutch to get the car to move from a stoplight in first. Other than that, you CAN shift without using the clutch. Whether or not it hurts anything, I don't know. Maybe someone else can answer this.
i think i understand now...say regularly you drop 800 rpm's from 3-4, well while your in 3rd pull it out and wait till the revs drop 800 rpm then throw into 4th....correct me if im wrong jsinger
why would you want to do this though...if you're missing your left leg, then it would be understandable...any other reason is just goofy....push in the pedal and shift......
