2003 accord tinting??
Hey guys, I was just going to get my windows tinited when i saw these little black dots all around the edges of the window. They are on pretty much all new cars now i think, but i cant figure out what they're for. I know the tint doesnt go to well over it cause my friends beamer has the exact same thing. Does anyone else know what im talking about or have this problem?? The tint shop said they could sand them down, but i dont want them f**king up the defroster lines on the back windshield. Any thoughts, suggestion, or opinions would be very much appreciated!
thanks,
Chris
thanks,
Chris
I assume you're talking about the rear window. Those dots make up the radio antenna. You're screwed just like most of us. You can do one of two things, tint over it (the tint won't stick to it and will look funky) or you can tint just under it and leave the dots as they are. That's what I did and I'm pretty happy with the results.
I just got my tint done on my 98 Accord cpe..I tinted over the dots. It doesn't stick here either but I knew it was an issue going in so it doesn't totally bother me.

a good tint shop will use a mini-torch to get the tint to stick to the dots. the heat causes the air and water trapped under the tint to evaporate so it will stick. its been a problem since 94+ 4dr tegs and 94+ accord coupes.

the dots dont make up the antenna. there are orange lines just like the defroster ones that make up the antenna.

I know of some people that have spray painted the black dots the color of the tint or stuck a windshield banner back there. Two more options to consider.

Yes, the dots on the top of the back windshield DO make up the antenna. The orange lines are for the defroster.

cars that dont have window antennas may also have those black dots. a good tint shop should be able to tint over the dots w/o any problems (no sanding painting etc)

dood.. the dots dont. if you look at the top of the rear window. there is a little plastic cover. that cover cover the plug to antenna, which looks like the defroster lines, but arent on the same ciruit.

Chris, sorry to burst your bubble, but the dots are not the antenna. If you look at your rear window closely, you will see the horizontal lines for the defroster, and some rather uneven verticle lines. Those verticle lines are the antenna. Trust me on this.
